Rupert Murdoch, who owns several media titles including The Australian, The Times in the UK, and Fox News in the United States, has announced his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, a former police chaplain. The marriage will be Murdoch’s fifth, and he plans to tie the knot later in the northern hemisphere summer.

The pair met at an event at Murdoch’s vineyard in California in September, and Murdoch has described feeling nervous about falling in love again but also certain that this will be his last relationship. Ms Smith, who is 66 years old, is a widow whose late husband was Chester Smith, a country singer, radio and TV executive.

Murdoch officially split with his fourth wife, Jerry Hall, in August, and has spoken candidly about his reluctance to enter into another serious relationship. However, his relationship with Ms Smith appears to have changed his mind, with Murdoch telling the New York Post that he is “happy” and excited to marry her.
