This eco-conscious functionality was initially available in the United States, Europe, and Canada and has now reached Indian users.

To enable this environmentally conscious feature on your Google Maps app, follow these simple steps:

Open the Google Maps app on your smartphone.
Tap your profile picture or initial.
Navigate to Settings and tap on Navigation.
Scroll down to “Route options.”
Toggle on “Prefer fuel-efficient routes” to activate eco-friendly routing.
Choose your engine type by tapping “Engine type” and selecting accordingly.
Search for your destination or tap it on the map.
In the bottom left, tap Directions.
Swipe up on the bottom bar.
Tap “Change engine type” and select yours.
Confirm your selection by tapping Done.
