Timing of Ramadan fasting in different countries: From 12 to 18 hours

The shortest fasts, at an average of 12 hours, are observed in countries like Chile and New Zealand, which are located in the southern hemisphere. Meanwhile, countries in the northern hemisphere like Iceland and Greenland observe fasts of over 17 hours. In cities like Longyearbyen in Norway, where the sun does not set from April 20 to August 22, Islamic scholars recommend following the fasting schedule of Mecca or nearby Muslim countries.
